Name : traceroute
Product : Fedora 8
Version : 2.0.12
Release : 1.fc8
URL : http://traceroute.sourceforge.net
Summary : Traces the route taken by packets over an IPv4/IPv6 network
Description :
The traceroute utility displays the route used by IP packets on their
way to a specified network (or Internet) host. Traceroute displays
the IP number and host name (if possible) of the machines along the
route taken by the packets. Traceroute is used as a network debugging
tool. If you're having network connectivity problems, traceroute will
show you where the trouble is coming from along the route.
Install traceroute if you need a tool for diagnosing network connectivity
problems.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
Update to the latest version 2.0.12. This version adds some new features
(including support for ICMP extensions and MPLS, automatic path mtu discovery,
guessing of the number of hops in backward direction etc.), and fixes some
little bugs. The optional second argument is interpreted now as the full
packet length (including IP headers), not a payload length only. It is obvious
due to the nature of this feature, and it is the behaviour of the previous
implementation.
