[PATCH] report messages via syslog
by Petr Lautrbach
Hello,
attached patches add support for not only displaying error messages by echo but also log via syslog.
This allows messages to be inspected also from logs e.g. after boot process.
There is a new function echo_log() in /etc/rc.d/init.d/function which takes 3 arguments - syslog priority,
syslog tag and message.
Another two patches change network-scripts/ifup* and network-scripts/ifdown* to use this function instead of simple
echo.
.error priority is used when scripts ends with exit 1 otherwise .info priority is used.
Regards,
Petr

initscripts-9.16-1 released
by Bill Nottingham
Main changes:
- Hotkey interactive startup has been removed, for a variety of reasons:
1) It doesn't work well with plymouth
2) interactive mode can never work right in a more strongly upstart or systemd environment
For those that still need it, the interactive mode can still be accessed by
booting with 'confirm'.
- single-user mode now uses a helper program to execute bash, for use with
SELinux. This fixes the long standing issue of commands in single-user
mode being unable to write to the terminal.
Full log attached.
