Bug ID: 2192964
Summary: paps generates invalid PostScript "Got 1 pages"
Product: Fedora
Version: 38
Hardware: All
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
Component: paps
Keywords: Desktop, Regression
Severity: medium
Assignee: tagoh(a)redhat.com
Reporter: eggert(a)cs.ucla.edu
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, tagoh(a)redhat.com
Target Milestone: ---
Classification: Fedora
To reproduce the problem, run these shell commands:
echo x | paps >t.ps
ps2pdf t.ps
This should work fine, but ps2pdf complains "Error: /undefined in Got". The
problem is that paps is putting debug output in the PostScript:
$ head -n 5 t.ps
Got 1 pages
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
%%Creator: cairo 1.17.8 (
https://cairographics.org)
%%CreationDate: Wed May 3 10:52:30 2023
%%Pages: 1
That first line "Got 1 pages" should not be there.
This is a known bug in paps and is fixed upstream as described here:
https://github.com/dov/paps/issues/52
It is a regression in Fedora 38, compared to Fedora 37. It caused some of my
scripts to stop working.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
echo x | paps | head -n 1
Actual Results:
Got 1 pages
Expected Results:
%!PS-Adobe-3.0
