With ibus-1.5.15-1.fc27 installed, I press control-shift-e and nothing happens.
When I downgrade back to 1.5.14-6.fc26 and press control-shift-e I get a @ and
can properly select and enter emoji's.

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1472607] New: ibus randomly doesn't initialize properly, reqires relogin
by bugzilla@redhat.com
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1472607
Bug ID: 1472607
Summary: ibus randomly doesn't initialize properly, reqires
relogin
Product: Fedora
Version: 25
Component: ibus

Process list in a failure state
Description of problem:
Ever since upgrading to Fedora 23 I've had a problem where ibus quite often
won't initialize properly on first login after reboot, and this continues after
upgrade to Fedora 25.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ibus-1.5.14-5.fc25.x86_64
kdelibs-4.14.30-2.fc25.x86_64
How reproducible:
Random but frequent.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot the system
2. Log in to KDE
Actual results:
Some ibus processes are running, but there is no tray icon and it doesn't work.
This is fixed by logout and login.
Additional info:
I'm a programmer and could try debugging this myself to fix or provide more
info, but I have no idea where to start since this happens during startup and
feels like some kind of race condition in initialization due to lots of
programs trying to start at the same time.

When m17n-db went from m17n-db-1.7.0-9.fc27 to m17n-db-1.8.0-0.1.RC1.fc28 I had
trouble starting applications such as firefox, terminal, seamonkey and others
using XFCE. Usually if I tried enough times I could get a terminal window to
start. IT was much harder to get some of the others to start. If I switched to
gnome, some things appeared to try to start based on my XFCE settings and
failed. But after that things seemed to work normally. This happens
consistantly on my work desktop (dell precision 5810) but does not happen at
all on my macbook air at home.
Reproducible: Always

It uses malloca, which uses global data without synchronization. This can
result in crashes or information leaks in multi-threaded programs:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-gnulib/2018-01/msg00046.html
Furthermore, the following example program results in a valgrind warning:
#include <err.h>
#include <locale.h>
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#include <string.h>
#include <uniconv.h>
int
main (void)
{
if (setlocale (LC_ALL, "en_US.ISO-8859-1") == NULL)
err (1, "setlocale");
/* Try to provide better valgrind results. */
char *str = strdup ("non-idn.example");
if (str == NULL)
err (1, "strdup");
unsigned char *result = u8_strconv_from_locale (str);
if (result == NULL)
errx (1, "u8_strconv_from_locale");
printf ("[[%s]]\n", result);
free (str);
return 0;
