[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1254007] New: Dependency issues with system-config-language
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1254007
Bug ID: 1254007
Summary: Dependency issues with system-config-language
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Component: system-config-language
Assignee: pnemade(a)redhat.com
Reporter: renault(a)fedoraproject.org
QA Contact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, nav007(a)gmail.com,

I installed system-config-language with DNF on Fedora Rawhide.
When I started this application, I had this error :
/usr/share/system-config-language/language_gui.py:23: PyGIWarning: Gtk was
imported without specifying a version first. Use gi.require_version('Gtk',
'3.0') before import to ensure that the right version gets loaded.
from gi.repository import Gtk
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/system-config-language/system-config-language.py", line 72,

<module>
import install_packages3
File "/usr/share/system-config-language/install_packages3.py", line 24, in
<module>
import dnf
ImportError: No module named dnf
And application didn't work.
Then, I installed python-dnf and its plugins : it worked !
I think the dependencies are not correct for this package.

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1254775] New: hangs when run with language other than English under Python 3
by Red Hat Bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1254775
Bug ID: 1254775
Summary: hangs when run with language other than English under
Python 3
Product: Fedora
Version: 23
Component: system-config-language
Severity: high
Assignee: pnemade(a)redhat.com
Reporter: awilliam(a)redhat.com

CC: i18n-bugs(a)lists.fedoraproject.org, nav007(a)gmail.com,

fix the bug (by swiping the _ definition from anaconda)
system-config-language runs OK in Python 3 in English, or in Python 2 in any
other language, but when running in a non-English language in Python 3 it hangs
such that it can't even be ctrl-C'ed (has to be kill'ed from another terminal):
root@adam system-config-language (master *%)]# LANGUAGE=de_DE.UTF-8
/usr/share/system-config-language/system-config-language.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/system-config-language/language_gui.py", line 341, in
do_activate
win = ChildWindow(self)
File "/usr/share/system-config-language/language_gui.py", line 41, in
__init__
self.title = Gtk.Label.new(_("Language Selection"))
TypeError: Must be string, not bytes
This can be fixed by swiping anaconda's definition of '_' (the conventional
name for the function for 'translate this string'). One of
system-config-language's files currently defines it as 'gettext.gettext', which
seems to cause the hang.
Patch attached. I just stole anaconda's '_' definition. Tested in both py2 and
py3. I'll apply this patch in the package spec for now, once it's applied
upstream it can be removed from the package.

[Fedora-i18n-bugs] [Bug 1254742] New: Several translations not displayed
by Red Hat Bugzilla

Doing the F23 l10n Test Day, I noticed that available translations for the
window title and buttons in system-config-language do not seem to display.
Looking in Zanata, translations are available for the window title ("Language
Selection") and the buttons ("Help", "System Defaults", "Cancel", and "OK") in
both German and Dutch, but running the app with LANGUAGE=nl_NL.UTF-8 or
LANGUAGE=de_DE.UTF-8 does not display these translations. The English labels
are used.
