Summary: [si_LK] moving to m17n-db-sinhala to sub-package
Product: Fedora
Version: 11
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: medium
Priority: low
Component: m17n-db
AssignedTo: pnemade(a)redhat.com
ReportedBy: danishka(a)gmail.com

fedora-i18n-bugs(a)redhat.com
Estimated Hours: 0.0
Classification: Fedora
Description of problem:
Right now si-samanala.mim and si-wijesekera-preedit.mim install by default.
Both of si-samanala.mim and si-wijesekera-preedit.mim are not popular among
Sinhala community.
Having 7 input engines are not convenient for end users.
So, I propose that, @sinhala-support should install only wijesekara and
iBus-Sinhala.
If any one need other packages allow them to install them separately.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
How reproducible:
Steps to Reproduce:
1. yum groupinstall sinhala-support
2. open im-chooser
3. check available input-engines under Sinhala
Actual results:
7 input-engines available
Expected results:
only nee Wijesekara and iBus-sayura
Additional info:
If this add to comp file as a update for F11, it will comes with latest
spins/remixes use Fedora+update repos

Summary: [ibus][Indic] - ibus Malfunctioning when conflict with
keyboard-indicator
Product: Fedora
Version: rawhide
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Keywords: i18n
Severity: medium
Priority: low
Component: ibus
AssignedTo: phuang(a)redhat.com
ReportedBy: smaitra(a)redhat.com
QAContact: extras-qa(a)fedoraproject.org
CC: smaitra(a)redhat.com, phuang(a)redhat.com,
fedora-i18n-bugs(a)redhat.com
Estimated Hours: 0.0
Classification: Fedora
Target Release: ---
Description of problem:
When Keyboard Indicator is enabled with any locale other than USA, at that time
if you select ibus for any layout, it will not work with ibus, it works with
keyboard-indicator at that time.
Moreover that, when any other layout engine is enabled in the system, if at
that time user enable ibus, the application should show Warning message
indicating that other engine is enable which may restrict ibus to work
properly.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
ibus-1.1.0.20090423-1.fc11.i586
ibus-gtk-1.1.0.20090423-1.fc11.i586
keyboard indicator 2.26.1
How reproducible:
Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Switch on keyboard Indicator with any layout except USA
2. Switch on ibus with any layout.
3. Open any editor, gedit
4. Try to type according to ibus's layout.
5. Observe the result.
Actual results:
It will always follow the layout enabled in keyboard Indicator, and when enable
ibus, it will not show any warning message that other engine is already
enabled.
Expected results:
ibus should always detect if any other same engine is already enabled in the
system and behave accordingly.

What's a packaging bug? "yum install vlgothic-fonts vlgothic-p-fonts" works.
apparently AutoFontsInstaller feature doesn't resolve dependencies properly. a
subpackage vlgothic-fonts-common are allowed in the font packaging policy. I
don't see anything wrong in vlgothic-fonts package here.

Well the pop-up to install a Japanese font is very annoying, because I have
never seen any chat in any of the channels that would require a Japanese font
to display (they're all English channels!).
If the default UTC encoding of channels in Xchat requires non-English fonts to
display UTC encoding correctly, they need to be included in dependancies.
And lastly, there is no 'ignore' option to avoid installing fonts that I don't
require to view English language channels.

The error is a packaging bug with the vlgothic-fonts, reassigning.
As for the idea of installing fonts from the network, that one also has nothing
to do with XChat, but is implemented entirely on the library level:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Features/AutoFontsAndMimeInstaller
Complain to the Pango maintainers if you don't like that feature. There's also
an option in some config file to turn it off, but I can't find it now.
