Created attachment 457091 --> https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=457091 vmware-0.log - tail will get you a heap of 'mks' errors
Description of problem: Installed ibus-anthy-1.2.4-2.fc13.x86_64 after it was listed in 'Software Updates' yesterday (2010.11.01), and shut down. Booted this morning and found that a) VMWare Workstation 7.1 crashed with 'mks' errors in abundance and b) keyboard could not reproduce special characters (_ ! " # ¤ % & / ( ) = ; ; etc.) - and that pretty much prevented me from using my root password (in X - didn't even try a terminal, have to work).
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
How reproducible: No idea. Erased (sudo yum erase ibus-a.. etc.) and rebooted.
Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Actual results:
Expected results:
Additional info: Attached vmware-0.log

I don't know why you think this is related with ibus-anthy. Would you forward the stack trace of the crash? I saw your log file but I don't see any problems about ibus-anthy. I don't try VMWare. I have no problem with VirtualBox.
keyboard could not reproduce special characters (_ ! " # ¤ % & / ( ) = ; ;
Do you mean you have no output or different chars are output?
No idea. Erased (sudo yum erase ibus-a.. etc.) and rebooted.
Do you mean you encounter your problem after you remove ibus-anthy? Do you see your problem with a new account? Do you see your problem when you select other ibus engines likes ibus-pinyin or ibus-hangul ?
Do you see your problem without ibus? i.e. % env GTK_IM_MODULE=gtk-im-context-simple gnome-terminal --disable-factory &

--- Comment #2 from Morten Schiønning morten.schioenning@teliasonera.com 2010-11-02 05:48:40 EDT --- Hi fujiwara
All I know is that when I installed ibus-anthy, VMWare and keyboard stopped working correctly, and when I removed it, things went back to normal. I don't know how to get you a stack trace of the crash, all I have is the submitted log.
Related to the the keyboard: Any Shift+non-alfabet, Alt+anything and Ctrl+anything produced a character as if Shift, Alt or Ctrl had NOT been pressed. I.e Shift+3 would equal #, but produced 3.
Cronologically: Installed ibus-anthy Shut down (and went home from work) (Came back to work and) Booted VMWare crashed (at Win XP VM login), keyboard 'challenged' Erased ibus-anthy Rebooted Everything worked normal.
I have not changed anything else, no new account(s) I don't know how to select ibus engines and have thus not attempted it. I don't know how to disable ibus either, and since I am at work on this machine, I will not attempt anything that have the potential to break stuff.
Best regards
Morten S 8^)

I don't know any problems from your descriptions. I would need more information to fix your problem. I may have no chance to try VMWare since VMWare would be a shareware and I'm not familiar with the config file. I tried a free VMWare a few years ago but I could not set up the right config file. I guess your problem might be an installation issue in VMWare since I don't see any problems with another virtual software.

There is a gdb documentation. I'd want the result of 'bt' command when you got a crash of VMware. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/StackTraces#Obtaining_a_stack_trace_using_just...
Related to the the keyboard: Any Shift+non-alfabet, Alt+anything and Ctrl+anything produced a character as if Shift, Alt or Ctrl had NOT been pressed. I.e Shift+3 would equal #, but produced 3.
Sorry, I don't see any problems in my env.

I asked to try with a new account. If you don't see any problems with a new account, your customized settings might have a problem so you might be able to resolve your problem to cleanup the settings.

If you install ibus-anthy, ibus-anthy will be a default engine when you log in GNOME session on Japanese locale. If you install ibus-pinyin, ibus-pinyin will be a default engine when you log in GNOME session on Simplified Chinese locale. If you install ibus-hangle, ibus-hangle will be a default engine on Korean locale. The default engine is decided in the first login only so a new account would be needed to test the problems.
If you run ibus-setup command, you could customize the loaded engines.
Thanks.
