--- Comment #58 from Stas Sergeev stsp@list.ru --- (In reply to fujiwara from comment #57)
Probably I don't have to move the engine settings to ibus core because the single IME users don't have to use ibus-setup but the engine setup only.
Then perhaps it is possible to make the both setups to change the same setting? The user then will be able to use engine setup to change the ibus setting and get the same results as before. But the ibus-setup users will immediately benefit from having the shortcuts they defined to work also for the engine-specific layouts.
I just wonder if the engine configuration is needed by ru users since you can add 'us' and 'rusle' in ibus-setup.
Of course I can't speak for all Russian users. There is a person who can though: Sergey Udaltsov svu@gnome.org But I know he doesn't like to speak about ibus. :)
But my opinion is that adding 'us' and 'ru' (in my case - 'rusle', but most people just use 'ru') is enough and the engine configuration for this is not needed. And even if there is, the default should be set to Disabled.
Changing icons by engine input modes is still under the discussion.
User has to know and see what his current layout is. It is simply not possible to display RU and typing as if it was EN - this will immediately generate a bug report. Note that I've never seen something like that in any versions of linux or windows, so on that particular question I can probably speak about all/most Russian users.
