Change Request
by Arne Wolf
Dear Sirs or Madams,
I am not entirely sure if I send this to the right place. We are using cronie-1.4.8 on our RHEL5 and RHEL6 based machines right now. For logging purposes we need cronie to generate a unique id (128bit uuid-V1 is sufficient for us) for every forked process. At this point we have already wrote a subroutine which will provide a UUID at runtime (using libuuid). About this I got two questions:
1. We are not entirely sure where this subroutine needs to be called, so that every forked crond will provide a unique id. Can you help us with that? Is there a function which is called every time a new process is forked to run one scheduled task?
2. Are you interested in implementing this functionality into upcoming cronie-releases? We are willing to provide any help you need from us.
If this is the wrong place to ask this. I would appreciate the name/contact information of the cronie maintainer(s).
Let me thank you for any upcoming effort in advance.
Kind regards
Arne Wolf
