EC2, at least the linux instances, do not support SMBIOS as they are
paravirtual Xen guests. VMware supports SMBIOS, but I'm not sure if we are
given the tools to manipulate it; deltacloud uses an attached ISO image to
"inject" userdata. RHEV supports SMBIOS, but the propsed solution to
"injecting" a UUID from the RHEV guys is to use an attached floppy
disk (since RHN also uses SMBIOS, and since SMBIOS is limited to 64-byte
strings in the normal case, floppy was seen as larger, easier, and less likely
to collide with RHN).
