Greetings,
I am logging into a Sway session at tty (no greeter). I may do the greeter thing sometime but I have another issue.
Recently, I ran a proprietary software (BricsCAD) while in a Sway/Wayland session. The application started but the first dialog had nothing on it -- Just window frame and the backround (no labels, fields, or buttons). I couldn't proceed any further because that dialogue determines the next action.
I raised a support ticket to see if the vendor can resolve the issue. The support team is asking that I run an Xorg session and tweak graphic scale/resolution to provide feedback. Is there a way to do this without polluting my Sway setup? I built from "Minimal Install" (Server ISO, no DEs). Can someone advise on how I can run Xorg and test this app for feedbacks? Meanwhile, I have no intention of dropping Sway for any DEs. Something tells me the issue is minor, but I can't prove that without feedbacks.
I tried "Awesome" on my build but I get thrown-out after I log in -- back to tty login. I guess X-server is not running or something.
Any ideas?
Regards Onyeibo
Hi,
my first question is if the application is not Java based app?
https://github.com/swaywm/sway/wiki#issues-with-java-applications
Other than that, I personally would go with a VM running on Sway for this application. That seems like cleanest solution to me. I'm not aware of a way how to temporary run Xorg session on your machine except dual-boot or DE next to Sway which will pollute your system.
Best Regards, Jirka
