Hi all,
because Fedora 24 is out of the door since Tuesday, it's good time to
think about changes for the next release.
In the plan already is switching from gcc-go to golang for the Go
language compiler. Currently we are waiting for the golang 1.7 update
to happen in primary Fedora. This switch should allow to build more of
the container ecosystem for s390x, not only docker (the tool) we have
now.
Thanks to the unified release engineering tools we might be able to
produce various cloud/docker/... images in addition to the Server
release.
Another thing can be the architecture level support, we are still
building with "-march=z9-109 -mtune=z10" which is 4 generations old. Our
builders are zEC12 based, so I would like to switch us to it.
That's likely going to need to wait until F-26 as there's no mass
rebuild in F-25. We can do that easily once F-25 branches at the end
of July.
