Hi,
monitoring apache httpd in RHQ requires the snmp module being present, which is currently
problematic (don't ask please).
Ian pointed out mod_bmx (
https://github.com/hyperic/mod_bmx , ASL license) which provides
(some of) the same data.
While mod_bmx works quite well, it still has some issues for production use:
https://github.com/hyperic/mod_bmx/blob/master/STATUS.txt
Good thing is that mod_bmx is fairly small and does not require all the complex
dependencies.
I've written a proof of concept plugin for RHQ that uses mod_bmx to grab the data and
monitor httpd.
Code and a binary version can be found at
https://github.com/pilhuhn/rhq-apache-bmx
It currently expects the handler to be mounted at /bmx and not being protected.
Perhaps this is a viable alternative to mod_snmp in the future.
