I've tested this a couple of times and the edit connection method of refreshing the server connection is working for me now. So I must have done something else differently before.

If you can consistently reproduce this one, would you mind creating an issue in RHQ Bugzilla (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/browse.cgi?product=RHQ%20Project) and include the reproduction steps in the issue description?

I see now where this(below) is also a problem - the workaround of restarting the agent solves it for me. The editing the connection properties did not but I may not have waited long enough.

Hi,
This could be due to a bug I've seen once or twice where if the JON Agent is unable to connect to the EAP5 instance at the time the Agent was started, e.g. because EAP5 was not running or not fully started, it never attempts to reconnect and the Server remains reported as DOWN. Please try the following and see if it fixes the issue:
- Go to the EAP5 JBossAS Server Resource's Inventory>Connection tab and
edit its connection properties. 2) Click Save to save the connection properties (no need to make any changes). Wait a minute or two.
If this doesn't do the trick, try restarting your Agent.
Let me know how it goes.

OK, thanks to Jay Shaughnessy for getting me on track with JBOSS EAP instead of GA. I have JBOSS 5.0 EAP ruinning on a machine that has rhq-agent on it and is connecting to my RHQ server. It sees the Jboss correctly but it reports it's availability as DOWN. I believe this is wrong. How can I troubleshoot this?
