Fedora Update Notification
FEDORA-2012-19766
2012-12-05 06:30:56
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : ardour
Product : Fedora 17
Version : 2.8.16
Release : 1.fc17
URL : http://ardour.org
Summary : Multichannel Digital Audio Workstation
Description :
Ardour is a multichannel hard disk recorder (HDR) and digital audio workstation
(DAW). It is capable of simultaneous recording 24 or more channels of 32 bit
audio at 48kHz. Ardour is intended to function as a "professional" HDR system,
replacing dedicated hardware solutions such as the Mackie HDR, the Tascam 2424
and more traditional tape systems like the Alesis ADAT series. It is also
intended to provide the same or better functionality as software systems such
as ProTools, Samplitude, Logic Audio, Nuendo and Cubase VST (we acknowledge
these and all other names as trademarks of their respective owners). It
supports MIDI Machine Control, and so can be controlled from any MMC
controller, such as the Mackie Digital 8 Bus mixer and many other modern
digital mixers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
2.8.16:
Hot on the heels of 2.8.15 comes a minor upgrade to 2.8.16. This release is of significance to only 2 groups of people:
- People who use a FFADO-supported audio interface on Linux and like to start JACK from within Ardour (this has been fixed to use the correct "firewire" driver name)
- Packagers for Linux distributions (this release will now build using SYSLIBS=1 on most current Linux distributions, unlike 2.8.15 which was almost impossible to build under any circumstances)
2.8.15:
From out the depths it came ... a maintainance release of Ardour 2.8, number 15 in the series. Not many changes in this release:
- fix (some) problems with non-Latin characters in session and track names
- MIDI control on Linux now correctly uses system MIDI data flows, avoiding situations where things "just ought to work" but do not.
- Correctly save and restore control surface (Generic MIDI, OSC, etc) on/off state across sessions loading
- Fix (and change) keybindings for "Maximise Editor Space", "Crop" and "Separate"
The two fixes for MIDI-control-related issues should make working with MIDI control surfaces much less of a hair-pulling experience.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : R-qtl
Product : Fedora 16
Version : 1.26.14
Release : 1.fc16
URL : http://www.rqtl.org/
Summary : Tools for analyzing QTL experiments
Description :
R-qtl is an extensible, interactive environment for mapping
quantitative trait loci (QTLs) in experimental crosses. Our goal is to
make complex QTL mapping methods widely accessible and allow users to
focus on modeling rather than computing.
A key component of computational methods for QTL mapping is the hidden
Markov model (HMM) technology for dealing with missing genotype
data. We have implemented the main HMM algorithms, with allowance for
the presence of genotyping errors, for backcrosses, intercrosses, and
phase-known four-way crosses.
The current version of R-qtl includes facilities for estimating
genetic maps, identifying genotyping errors, and performing single-QTL
genome scans and two-QTL, two-dimensional genome scans, by interval
mapping (with the EM algorithm), Haley-Knott regression, and multiple
imputation. All of this may be done in the presence of covariates
(such as sex, age or treatment). One may also fit higher-order QTL
models by multiple imputation and Haley-Knott regression.
