-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fedora Update Notification FEDORA-2017-ec11c67bd7 2017-08-01 13:46:43.022483 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name : libsodium Product : Fedora 25 Version : 1.0.13 Release : 1.fc25 URL : http://libsodium.org/ Summary : The Sodium crypto library Description : Sodium is a new, easy-to-use software library for encryption, decryption, signatures, password hashing and more. It is a portable, cross-compilable, installable, packageable fork of NaCl, with a compatible API, and an extended API to improve usability even further. Its goal is to provide all of the core operations needed to build higher-level cryptographic tools. The design choices emphasize security, and "magic constants" have clear rationales.
The same cannot be said of NIST curves, where the specific origins of certain constants are not described by the standards. And despite the emphasis on higher security, primitives are faster across-the-board than most implementations of the NIST standards.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Information:
** Version 1.0.13** - Javascript: the sumo builds now include all symbols. They were previously limited to symbols defined in minimal builds. - The public `crypto_pwhash_argon2i_MEMLIMIT_MAX` constant was incorrectly defined on 32-bit platforms. This has been fixed. - Version 1.0.12 didn't compile on OpenBSD/i386 using the base gcc compiler. This has been fixed. - The Android compilation scripts have been updated for NDK r14b. - armv7s-optimized code was re-added to iOS builds. - An AVX2 optimized implementation of the Argon2 round function was added. - The Argon2id variant of Argon2 has been implemented. The high-level `crypto_pwhash_str_verify()` function automatically detects the algorithm and can verify both Argon2i and Argon2id hashed passwords. The default algorithm for newly hashed passwords remains Argon2i in this version to avoid breaking compatibility with verifiers running libsodium <= 1.0.12. - A `crypto_box_curve25519xchacha20poly1305_seal*()` function set was implemented. - scrypt was removed from minimal builds. - libsodium is now available on NuGet. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This update can be installed with the "dnf" update program. Use su -c 'dnf upgrade libsodium' at the command line. For more information, refer to the dnf documentation available at http://dnf.readthedocs.io/en/latest/command_ref.html#upgrade-command-label
