Do we have plans for updating Mono and Monodevelop? Monodevelop
3.0.x
requires Mono 2.10.9, while we currently ship 2.10.8 even in Rawhide.
According to the Release Notes for Mono 2.10.9 that's a Mac-only update:
http://www.mono-project.com/Release_Notes_Mono_2.10.9
So there is no need for updating mono-core in Fedora at the moment. ;-)
PS now that the whole libdir mess is resolved and we no longer
diverge
from upstream too much, I'll try and spend some more time with the
Mono stack - I'll be more than happy to prep the two aforementioned
updates.
Any help for updating monodevelop to 3.x is very welcome!
One issue with updating monodevelop is always the handling of the
additional Addins which must be usually updated at the same time as the
monodevelop core package (including BuildRoot override for all Fedora
releases besides rawhide).
monodevelop-debugger-gdb:
- in Fedora
- latest upstream release 3.0.2
-> no problem
monodevelop-database:
- not in Fedora
-> no problem
monodevelop-vala
- in Fedora
- latest upstream release 2.9.2
- 2.9.2 seems to be the development version of 3.x for that Addin
- to avoid having a monodevelop-vala Fedora package with unresolved
dependencies, I assume if we update monodevelop to 3.x the we have to
update monodevelop-vala to 2.9.2, too
My suggestion is to update monodevelop to 3.x in rawhide and F17. F16
(and probably F15) should be updated to the latest 2.8.x, too.
Please let me know you thoughts and plans!
Best regards,
Christian
