The primary reason is that XML-RPC requires HTTP as the transport
between client and server. However, Ryan and I looked xmlrcp-c which
provides a separate means for transport over it's own packet streams.
The limitation here is that it will not work with a character device,
which is what virtio provides to us on the guest side of the connection.
Our goal in this is to avoid reinventing the wheel if some existing
framework can do the job for us. If anybody has recommendations for what
could provide what we need (remote method calls that works with
character devices, with cross platform support for windows guests)
please recommend them.
