I'm baaaack :) In the mean while I upped my IPA to 4.6.5 version.
(redone anew AD one-way trust with shared secret)
and GSSAPI does not seem to work?
on masters:
$ KRB5_TRACE=/dev/stdout kinit pawel(a)ceb.private.cam.ac.uk.
...
[3894] 1573661402.150190: Storing....
$ echo $?
0
But Windoze end, AD controller and its clients when ssh or cifs to
masters still ask for password(which works for ssh) and I cannot spot
any errors in logs.
Any thoughts and suggestions?
many thanks, L.

Inappropriate authentication when binding as service account
by Joyce Babu
Hello,
I am trying to bind to ldap as a service account. I followed the advice in
https://lists.fedorahosted.org/archives/list/freeipa-users@lists.fedoraho...
and created a plain text password using ipa-getkeytab
ipa-getkeytab -s ipa.ennexa.org -p HTTP/service.domain.tld(a)EXAMPLE.COM -P
-k /tmp/test.keytab
But when I try to bind with the same password, it is failing
ldapsearch -D krbprincipalname=HTTP/service.domain.tld(a)EXAMPLE.COM,cn=services,cn=accounts,dc=example,dc=com
-w "MY_PLAIN_TEXT_PASSWORD" -b cn=groups,cn=accounts,dc=example,dc=com -h
ipa.example.com:389
ldap_bind: Inappropriate authentication (48)
Do I have to configure anything else?
Thanks & Regards,
Joyce Babu

by LHEUREUX Bernard
Hi all,
I would like to know what could be the best practices for storing SSH-Public-Keys in AD for IPAusers authentication in a scenario with AD Trust ?

Unable to login to IPA console
by Nikita Deeksha
Hi Team,
We have 2 IPA servers in Mater-Master setup are we facing the below issue
on these servers.
Isuue1:
Our httpd certificate has expired because of which our IPA1 UI wasn't
working, we are getting “*loging failed due to an unknown reason*” error
while we log in to the UI
1. First, the IPA console was not working as httpd service was stopped,
httpd was not starting as HTTP certificate is expired. Added
*NSSEnforceValidCerts
off* line in nss.conf to start the service.
2. After the change IPA console was loading we are not able to login to the
console as pki-tomcatd service was not running,

[Announce] FreeIPA 4.8.2 released
by Alexander Bokovoy
Hello!
The FreeIPA team would like to announce FreeIPA 4.8.1 release!
It can be downloaded from http://www.freeipa.org/page/Downloads. Builds for
Fedora 30 will be available in the official Fedora repository soon.
== Highlights in 4.8.2 ==
--------
* 5608: [RFE] Add Dogtag configuration extensions
Dogtag CA allows to specify additional options in the configuration file used
to deploy CA. FreeIPA installers can now pass through an overlay configuration
file to fine-tune the CA.
--------
* 7971: [RFE] Include hint for replication_wait_timeout if timeout fails
In case replica set up times out, suggest increasing replication_wait_timeout
option before running the replica installation.
--------
=== Enhancements ===
* 8001 Need default authentication indicators for SPAKE, PKINIT and encrypted challenge preauth
When Kerberos authentication is performed with the help of SPAKE or PKINIT
pre-authentication methods, add authentication indicator to resulting tickets.
This allows filtering access to resources by a wider variety of
pre-authentication methods.
--------
* 8110 Enable AES SHA 256 and 384 Kerberos enctypes
Allow use of AES SHA 256 and 384 Kerberos encryption types by default for new Kerberos principals.
--------
* 8111 [FIPS] Don't add camellia KRB5 encsalttypes in FIPS mode
Expose only encryption types allowed in FIPS mode when creating a master in FIPS mode.
--------
* 8020 support AES in LWCA key replication
Sub-CA key replication between CA replicas now can use AES encryption to wrap the secrets.
--------
* 8044 Extdom plugin should not return LDAP_NO_SUCH_OBJECT if there are timeout or other errors
An LDAP control used by SSSD for retrieval of information about AD users and
groups was extended to properly differentiate lack of information and its
unavailability.
--------
=== Known Issues ===
=== Bug fixes ===
FreeIPA 4.8.2 is a stabilization release for the features delivered as a
part of '''FIXME''' 4.7.0 '''END FIXME'''.
There are more than 40 bug-fixes details of which can be seen in
the list of resolved tickets below.
== Upgrading ==
Upgrade instructions are available on [[Upgrade]] page.
== Feedback ==
Please provide comments, bugs and other feedback via the freeipa-users mailing
list (https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/freeipa-users@lists.fedorah...)
or #freeipa channel on Freenode.
== Resolved tickets ==
* 2018 Change hostname length limit to 64
* 3999 [RFE] Fix and Document how to set up Samba File Server with IPA

what is the difference between idm:client and idm:DL1
by Charles Hedrick
In Centos 8, there are two streams for idm software. You need DL1 for a server. But it seems to have client software as well. Is that the same in both streams? We have a web server with the KDC proxy. It appears that we would need DL1 to get that. Is that reasonable for a system that isn’t a KDC?

DHCP integration
by Charles Hedrick
We’re in the process of moving DHCP service to our IPA LDAP server. IN our environment it makes sense to include DHCP as part of our centralized system management scheme, which is based on IPA. We seem to be getting about a DHCP request per second, so I don’t see this causing a performance problem.
As part of this I’ve created a plugin file that defines most of the DHCP commands (global config, subnets, hosts, groups, and pools — not IPV6, classes or subclasses, but they wouldn’t be hard to add following the examples in the file). Because adding a subnet requires restarting the server, I’m concerned about changes in LDAP having errors that would prevent a server start. For that reason, the plugin writes a file with the object whose configuration is changing, and calls dhcpd in test mode to verify that the configuration is OK. If not, the error information is returned to the user. This isn’t necessary for host entries, as they are read directly from LDAP. So changes that have to be checked are comparatively rare.
We don’t currently using dynamic address allocation, so we don’t have to worry about coordinating leases. If we did, we’d using the DHCP server’s standard mechanism, and wouldn’t try to put leases into LDAP.

FreeIPA having problem after upgrading from Fedora 30 to 31
by Patrick Dung
Hello,
I got problem upgrading from FC30 to FC31.
Before upgrade the FreeIPA in FC30 is running fine.
After OS upgrade, IPA cannot start and checked that it stuck at the CA part.
I run ipa-server-upgrade manually but there is problem.

number of topology segments for 3 servers clean setup?
by lejeczek
hi everyone,
I wanted to ask about number of segments after a clean IPA setup with 3
servers.
I see for both 'domain' & 'ca' two segments created by master/replica
installations, which makes me wonder - should there not be three? no/yes
& why?
many thanks, L.
