I agree with this sentiment, but agree that it is hard to reconcile this
with sponsor value. Of the sponsors I am talking to right now, only one
has communicated their understanding of value outside of association
with open source (which is what the logo does).
With that in mind, I propose two things:
1. Because of the time and ongoing conversations, let's move forward
with sponsor logos on shirts for this year for flock.
2. Let's consider whether we can budget to print a special edition
Fedora-only shirt for attendees for next year. I suspect that we won't
have budget to do it this year, but we can certainly look into it. It
is, as I understand it, rare for our contributors to receive t-shirts
"out of the blue." This is a chance to do that in the future. I
realize this will mean that flock will probably have two shirts. I
further suggest that we resolve that by saying we will print the fedora
only shirt without regard to sponsorship and we will print a
flock-themed fedora shirt only if there is a shirt sponsor.
I hope this is not a
terrible idea - A reversible t-shirts, one side
with only Fedora, flock logos and other side for sponsors logos).
