Westford FlockBus round-up (so far)
by Paul W. Frields
Re: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Flock2015-BostonBus
So far it looks like Local Motion is the best bang for the buck.
We used this vendor previously for Fedora's FUDCon Toronto 2009
conference and the experience was good. They were on time as needed,
and the vehicle (56-passenger bus) and driver quality were good. The
bus turned out not to be wifi-equipped, but this was because their
outfitter didn't deliver in time as expected. That was six years ago,
and they've upgraded several vehicles since then.
The bus this time is a newer and different (40-seat) model. Local
Motion says it's power and wifi equipped too. The one thing I don't
know yet is whether we have to put the drive up on either end at the
hotel -- but even if so, the cost would still be considerably below
the other vendors.

I noted that one vendor (the one Westford uses for their shuttle
service) didn't respond to my RFQ. I'm not terribly driven to track
them down since we got several other responses.
Are there any objections to going ahead with this vendor?

FUDBus from/to Westford?
by Paul W. Frields
For FUDCon 2009 Toronto, we contracted a bus to shuttle people from
the Westford, MA Red Hat office to the event, and back. The cost
ended up more reasonable than flying so many people to Toronto. It
also wasn't a terribly longer process once you factor in airports and
other mass transit.
This year Flock is an even shorter distance away (6 hours vs. 8-9).
So a bus might again be reasonable, if the number of people attending
warrants it. There are also different size buses. I think we had a
large 50+ seater, but I believe there are smaller and cheaper ones
available.
Is there any idea yet how many people from Westford are attending
Flock 2015?

Registration also closed?
by Matthew Miller
More timeline questions! Is pre-registration also supposed to be closed
at this point (in addition to talk submission) or is that an accident?

Site upgraded
by Paul W. Frields
I upgraded the site to WP 4.2.1 which fixes critical security
vulnerabilities. It seems to be working fine now.
I'm also trying to get caching working because the admin dashboard is
unbearably slow. ~60-90 seconds to get an admin page up is terrible.
If the site has a temporary problem, don't fret, I'm working on it.

More website changes
by Toshio Kuratomi
Now that the Talk submission deadline is passed, there's some text on the
flock site that needs to be updated:
http://flocktofedora.org/
* Green box that tell people to submit a talk
* Just above the green box is a textual link to submit talk.
* Menu bar has submit a talk as an entry. That links to the post about
submitting talks which lists the dates of talk submission. Might be nice
for users to remove the menu entry but probably the post is
self-explanatory.
https://register.flocktofedora.org/
* As Matthew noted, the registration app is saying that registration is
closed. But the posting on the flocktofedora page says pre-reg should be
open until July 17th ( Source: http://flocktofedora.net/hello-world/ )

Talk Voting Deadline
by Pete Travis
Did I miss the deadline to vote on talks? It did not occur to me that I
should vote before the end of the submission period, and now that I look
for it, the flock site says voting closed 03 May but links to a nonexistent
election in the elections app.

Request: Please Be More Specific with Deadlines
by Tim Flink
I realize that I wouldn't have hit this had I not waited until the last
minute to submit a talk proposal for Flock but as a future request -
please be specific about deadlines. I assumed that "accepted through
May 2" meant 23:59 EST at the earliest, not 23:59 UTC (I assume that's
what the deadline was, anyways. It's closed now). Had I known that the
deadline was UTC, I would have made sure to submit my proposal before
that deadline.
I may have missed something but I was not able to find a timezone
reference for the deadline extension and the flocktofedora site still
lists April 12 as the submission deadline.
Thanks,
Tim
