Hi, several people were asking me about the hotel and apparently now it is a good time to reserve a hotel for a lot of people.
So the question is - how many sponsored speakers will be on Flock - means how many rooms do we need?
Those are separate questions. I'm not sure how many we'll be paying for, but when I get home (flying back from Summit now), I can look up how many rooms we used last year.
Think not only about sponsored attendees, but there's other folks that will attend that aren't sponsored but want a good hotel rate with everyone else :). I'm not sure how many additional rooms would be needed, though. I guess you can look at total registrations and get some numbers from that. Well, there are 145 registered now, but I'm not sure if all will come if we don't sponsor them.
I was thinking about 60 double-bed rooms. But I have no idea here.

Usually what works best is a deal with a hotel to offer a block of pre-booked rooms with a special group rate and deadline, when the booking has to be done. How many rooms? I guess estimate can be made by looking on the list of registered attendees and also it pretty much depends on what the hotel offers. Then it's just first come, first served...

Just a little context for those who are not familiar with Prague: Prague is one of the most popular tourist places in Europe and August is high season. So if we don't book something in advance we might have a trouble to find accommodation for so many people for a reasonable price. I checked e.g. Diplomat which is a 4-start hotel close to the venue and their rates for the conference dates start at $150 while the normal off-season price is $60-70.
Jiri
Last year we used 30 single rooms and 29 shared (double) rooms at the official hotels. Obviously some people made other arrangements (were local, had friends to stay with, etc.)

I had a couple people ask me whether hotel information is available yet for booking. Any word for the community on that front?

Still looking for hotel information. Sorry to be a pest -- I have almost a dozen people on my team who may be going to Flock. In order to be able to properly deal with quarterly budget, I need to know what we're going to be spending to lodge people at the hotel.
Who's responsible for the actual setting up of the hotel block?

Jiri has helped us identify some options just this morning, and we're trying to optimize the block/price situation. It's likely to be about €90, and we're likely going to have a super-cheap option for those who need it as well. I promise I want to book rooms as much as you do. :-)

This is a good enough round number for me for right now -- thanks Jiri and Ruth!
