Hi all,
I created a new wiki page to coordinate ride shares among attendees
flying into the Dresden airport for Flock; feel free to add you and your
flight info to this page to coordinate sharing a ride with someone else:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Flock/2018/Rideshare
Once the page fills up, feel free to pair up / coordinate with someone
else on sharing a ride.

Hi All,
The schedule is now available at https://flock2018.sched.com
There is still a chance of changes and modifications.

We need some help from someone to run the lightning talk session. The work
required is to introduce each speaker and keep time.
Additional help is appreciated in managing the sign up process.
If you're interested, let me know.

Hi Lenka,
I think the pre-Flock speaker feedback session is a great idea, but I
don't anticipate having the time before Flock to help lead and work on
this effort.
To help with visibility, I suggest sharing participation details on this
mailing list and in the #fedora-flock IRC channel on irc.freenode.net.
Additionally, I suggest writing a short call for participation on the
Fedora Community Blog as a great way to boost visibility for the speaker
sessions (and also find more people willing to volunteer and help with
this too).
https://communityblog.fedoraproject.org/writing-community-blog-article/
Hope this is useful!

An Update on Flock
* New Sponsor
Some of you may have noticed that the ARM Foundation is now a Gold Sponsor
for Flock.
* Tickets and T-shirts
My tardiness at getting t-shirts ordered is to your BENEFIT. The tickets
that have t-shirts associated with them have been extended until tomorrow,
12 July. Get your order in now if you want to be assured of getting a
T-shirt.
Tickets that don't guarantee a t-shirt or lunch, will be available until 8
August.
* Transportation Details
Transportation Information has been added to the website as provided by
Amit Shah. Thank you!
* Hotel rooms
Hotel rooms are still available. If you need help finding a roommate,
email the list and let me know.
* Funding
All Flock funding is now issued/allocated. The last plane tickets are
being worked on. Everyone who is funded should know by now and should have
all of their details confirmed or in progress.
This year we have funded almost 40 people fully or partially. This has
resulted in, amongst other things over 25 flights and 20 hotel rooms
needing to be managed on top of other conference organizational needs.
* Schedule and CfP
The draft schedule is being worked and the CfP round 2 answers should be
out soon.
* Questions
Direct them to the list or me.
See you at Flock!
regards,
bex

Sending this to flock-planning as this didn't go earlier

Subject: Google Summer of Code and Outreachy - Project Showcase at FLOCK

summer-coding(a)lists.fedoraproject.org>, <flock-planning(a)fedoraproject.org>

Hello everyone,
Jonatoni and I have submitted a FLOCK session proposal to have a GSOC
project showcase for current round of GSOC (past projects, especially from
Outreachy, are welcome too). This email is to gather feedback about
interest and proposal.
More details here:
https://pagure.io/flock/issue/94
If you are/have been involved with GSoC or Outreachy in the past (as a
mentor or student) and plan to attend FLOCK, we would appreciate it if you
take some time( about 3-5 mins) to talk about your or your students'
project and if possible, show a demo of the work. Please reply on the
mailing list and/or comment on pagure issue if you would like to showcase
your project.
If you are/have been a GSoC or Outreachy mentor, we would also like to
know more about your experience, guidance and tips for future mentors (like
defining project proposal, your insights during application period and on
selecting students, regarding internship period deliverables and timeline
or evaluations) so thay they can learn from it.
Looking forward to hearing back from you
Best,
Bee
Hi Lenka,
The first round of acceptances for Flock were posted yesterday at
https://pagure.io/flock/issues?status=Open&tags=Talk+Accepted
How can we help you be successful?

Hi All,
The Flock funding request form is now available:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf9KR0oXmBiIl2I12hn3dln2795zDCFSME…
This is the form you use to ask for financial assistance to travel to Flock.
I will update the website with the form link once we have a few entries and
are sure there are no bugs.
regards,
bex

Hi all,
When going through the Flock CFP, the template for the talk does not
appear by default (you have to change the ticket type to 'default' and
back to 'flock_cfp' for it to appear).
For convenience, I put the template in a Pastebin for you to copy + paste:
https://pastebin.com/db1F2XRE
I noticed this when going to submit a proposal and thought others might
overlook this as well, since it is not intuitive to make the template
appear.

Hey,
Do you need a visa to attend Flock? Fill our the Visa request form here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/13ndmY6f69nUh42lJTqcLMhPNmM8vrqlwGhqF0dc-Vx…
It is better to request a letter, even if you are waiting on funding
confirmation than to not have a letter and not be able to attend.
Also, don't forget to submit the cfp and comment on the submissions at
pagure.io/flock/issues.
regards,
bex
