v2 forkage
by Michael DeHaan
I needed to generate some graphs for something and couldn't wait for the
"v3" stuff to get graph support, so I made some quick fixes
to my branch for the new mailman instances.
Works for both RH and Fedora Hosted.

using what I got out of EKG plus some grepping & wc

This is a start -- I'm going to throw it into gnuplot after dinner and
see how it looks.

debugging on 2009-07-03
by Max Spevack
Using a brand new database and the latest build:
python-ekg-0.4.3-2.fc11.noarch
Output here:
http://mspevack.fedorapeople.org/ekg/2009-07-03/
========
(1) ekg-scan worked fine.
(2) ekg-graph sort of worked, and then tracebacked. It would be nice to
get that fixed, if you're willing to do so Yaakov.

http://mspevack.fedorapeople.org/ekg/2009-07-03/ekg-graph-output.txt
(3) ekg-export spat out a gigantic file.
http://mspevack.fedorapeople.org/ekg/2009-07-03/ekg-export-output.csv
I don't understand the "month" field. Why are all the messages either
July 3, June 3, etc.?
(4) ekg-export-months spat out a bunch of files.
http://mspevack.fedorapeople.org/ekg/2009-07-03/ekg-export-months-output/
Let's look at spacewalk-devel's yearly count and yearly delta, seemingly
providing no information. Same with monthly and quarterly.

What am I missing? Did I do something wrong, or am I looking at things
that were never previously tested?
I know your internship has ended, Yaakov. But you promised me you'd get
this stuff working, even if it took longer. It feels like it's starting
to get close -- cobbler for instance is showing deltas -- but I think
that you probably only sanity checked one or two things, and didn't
squash all the bugs that exist.
Either that, or I'm just an idiot.

Last Release from me
by Yaakov Nemoy
Hey List,
Max and I had a frank discussion and we came to the conclusion that we
needed a quick hack to get results. The long part of the conversation
is that the time it would take to test and deliver working HTML
rendering with graphs would take longer than the few hours i gave EKG
at fudcon and the hour i gave now. Considering that there are a
number of tools that will convert CSV (and any other format) into nice
graphs, we've decided to go with a quick CSV dump.
On that note, i can say i've completed the basic CSV dumps. It
currently dumps out the same stuff that was being rendered to plain
HTML tables.
This release is also going to include a bunch of coding fixes but it's
not perfect. Any statistics generated with this release should be
taken with a grain of salt. A very big one.
This is the latest RPM build. It should work on Fedora 11.

Let me know how it works. If you have issues, try regenerating your DB
from scratch too.
