I fully agree with you that the integration is not deep enough. It's the UX one
gets when installing dtp from update site.
As it would be too rude to install mysql/postgresql/etc. jdbc drivers for
everybody the package needs splitting into subpackages first so people can
install mysql or postgresql or whatever exactly they need.
After that we can start adding dependencies to the subpackages.
And after that we can start looking at the code to make it auto recognize and
setup system installed jdbc drivers.
The problem is I don't have any time for DTP now but I can promise answering
questions and helping otherwise if you're interested in working on it?
