#55: GSoC ribbon/badge for hackergotchi

As we hit the mid-term point for the Google Summer of Code in Fedora, an
idea came up of a simple way to draw attention to GSoC planet posts. By
comparison, GNOME has this badge that appears under the hackergotchi of
the student:
http://planet.gnome.org/heads/logos/gsoc2009.png
Another idea I like is a banner/ribbon that is mounted directly within the
hackergotchi, such as this one for FUDCon:
http://quaid.fedorapeople.org/images/quaid-fudcon_ribbon-122x69.png
And can we get Marketing to help us get the word out about these kind of
cool tricks to show when people are involved in an important, short-lived
Fedora event such as a FAD or FUDCon?
We may need some hackergotchi services if any of the GSoC students are
stuck without one; I'll be sure to send them here for help. :)

#77: FUDCon logo on Logo page shows incorrect alignment
-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------
Reporter: mchua | Owner: duffy
Type: task | Status: new
Priority: critical | Component: Artwork
Severity: Quick & Easy | Keywords:

While working on #71, stickster pointed out that some of the FUDCon logos
on various websites/materials actually have a not-quite-aligned FUDCon
logo.
{{{
11:10:01 <@stickster> Hey guys, regarding the FUDCon logo
11:10:04 <@stickster> There's a problem that seems to recur from time to
time
11:10:11 <@stickster> The leaves of the logo are supposed to be four-
square
11:10:19 <@stickster> Right now, it's symmetrical along a diagonal axis,
but
it's not squared off
11:10:27 * stickster looks for examples to show what he means
11:10:32 * mchua looks
11:10:55 <@stickster> https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:FUDConF11
11:10:56 <@stickster> vs
11:11:07 <@stickster> https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FUDCon:Toronto_2009
11:11:21 * mchua notes that
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Logo#FUDCon_Logo
seems to have the not-four-square problem as well
}}}
This has been fixed for the ad in #71, but going through and fixing it in
other places (particularly the Logo wikipage, and the svg we send out to
people) seems like a good idea.

#104: Request for new im-chooser icon

Severity: Moderately Involved | Keywords:

I would like to ask for a new icon for im-chooser application to replace
old Bluecurve one [1] with an icon better fitting desktop and current
standards. It could re-use icons from gnome-icon-theme, like we did with
anaconda. Program's author is aware of this request [2].

#100: Request for new system-config-display icons
--------------------------------+-------------------------------------------
Reporter: raven | Owner: duffy
Type: icon request | Status: new
Priority: major | Component: Artwork
Severity: Moderately Involved | Keywords:
--------------------------------+-------------------------------------------
I would like to ask for a new icons for system-config-display application
to replace old Bluecurve set with an icons better fitting desktop and
current standards. It could re-use icons from gnome-icon-theme, like we
did with anaconda. Program's author is aware of this request [1].
The most important icons seems to be:
http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/?p=system-config-
display.git;a=blob;f=pixmaps/system-config-display.png;hb=HEAD (48x48 px,
main app icon)
http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/?p=system-config-
display.git;a=blob;f=pixmaps/monitor.png;hb=HEAD (48x48 px, add monitor
dialog, but same as above)
http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/?p=system-config-
display.git;a=blob;f=pixmaps/videocard.png;hb=HEAD (48x48 px, add video
card dialog)
The rest in this directory is probably lower priority, it is used in main
window to represent monitors and is made of separate pieces:
http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/?p=system-config-
display.git;a=tree;f=pixmaps;hb=HEAD (monitor-*.png)

#111: Live media sleeves for spins
----------------------------------+-----------------------------------------
Reporter: cwickert | Owner: duffy
Type: other artwork request | Status: new
Priority: major | Component: Artwork
Severity: Quick & Easy | Keywords:
----------------------------------+-----------------------------------------
We plan to make more live media in EMEA than Gnome and KDE. In order to
visually distinguish the different spins we would like to have custom
media sleeves for each spin, this means:
* Gnome/Desktop
* KDE
* LXDE
* Xfce
On the other hand we'd like to keep the corporate identity of Fedora, so
they shouldn't differ too much from the original ones. What I have in mind
is the current artwork with just the logo if the desktop environment in
white (so we don't need any additional colors)

I would like to ask for a new icon for authconfig application (featured on

PS I'm going to file some tickets as more maintainers agree on replacing
old icons. I hope it is not a problem for you.

#97: New icon for desktop-effects
-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------
Reporter: drago01 | Owner: duffy
Type: icon request | Status: new
Priority: major | Component: Artwork
Severity: Quick & Easy | Keywords:
-------------------------+--------------------------------------------------
Hi,
A user filed a bug report
(https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=540280), about desktop-
effects still using a bluecurve style icon, that does not fit with the
current icon style.
I agree with him, so we need a new icon that fits.
If someone from the design team has some time to create one I would
appreciate that.
Thanks in advance.
