No. OpenLDAP has two parts - the client side and the server side -
/etc/openldap/ldap.conf is used primarily for openldap clients like
ldapsearch. I believe he is using 389 for the server side of LDAP.
(based on the RedHat DS).
It's really the other way around
- Red Hat Directory Server is based on 389.
There are some big differences in
maintaining both.
