Hello Fedora Aaron Linder's introduction
by Aaron Linder
Hello,
My name is Aaron Linder, I am a recent MSc graduate from Winston-Salem State University. My interest in computers starts very young my father had a computer at home in the early 1980's (a self assembled apple II + ), at any rate. Our original computers had a much less toxic environment, while I do have a windows (Becuase Corsair iCUE will not allow linux native) and a M2 apple machine, which I have installed Fedora on.
At any rate I first installed linux without a GUI headless in the year 2000 but I didn't know how to use linux very well. It was many years later I began using it, using different distros, such as Ubuntu, and Xubuntu becuase my machines were too slow to run windows.
I first heard of Fedora from a gaming lady friend in black desert she used it for school work in meteorology research. My first experience with Fedora specifically was Asahi Linux remix and how it can plug into my Apple M2 ARM system.
my SWE proficiencies are in:
Java, Python, PhP, Coldfusion, and Rust. I need more contribution on projects outside of python. This is why linux is a developer friendly environment and I am really impressed with this distribution and I read recently, that Fedora wants to be the paramount ML Linux distribution. So I spent 2 years of my life in the evening studying AI/ML from NC-state have two certifications in AI and ML as a data scientist and AI associate from NC State.
I haven't worked off of mailing lists that much outside of github, I am on matrix, or telegram, and my volunteering hours depends on the project. I have worked about 14 projects for a startup called Omdena AI, which does grassroots AI projects, and it's mostly in python but the skill level of the other developers isn't great enough to facilitate too indepth of projects (I am a chapter leader at Omdena AI), so I try to choose projects of medium difficulty.
Fedora's teams are much more advanced from what I can see and I am interested in working with some new technologies.
I am also working as engineering sales for a Punjabi based studio called Sifars, however I am not a contributor at that corporation so I feel as I need to keep contributing on software myself, so this is a good outlet for that.
Fedora seems really exiting as it's US based company, Ubuntu is mostly centered in the UK which is too far away for collaboration at times. This is a more NA based collaboration center for SW, and depending on how deep a project is, It is possible for me to sit there and code for 15 hours a day but I typically take breaks and stuff and it's not good for my health to work that many hours.
Anyways you guys have a nice week and looking foward to examining some projects to contribute towards!
If you would like to see some of my previous ML projects, it's here @ https://aaronclinderportfolio.blogspot.com

Hello Fedora
by Edwin Buck
I'm Edwin Buck, a Fedora User since Fedora Core 1 and a Linux user since
Slackware first started offering its distro on floppy disks.
Linux has been my daily driver for decades now and Fedora is my distro of
choice. I've been working on UNIX / Linux professionally since 1997, and
using it at home since 1993. I've held various jobs over the years, mostly
keeping abreast of computer trends. I grew up in the Apple ][+ age, which
I learned BASIC, eventually buying an IBM PC (5150) and learning how to
program it in PASCAL. Since then I've had a love of learning new
programming languages, and have developed software in quite a few (with the
exception of C#).
I enjoy CI/CD systems, Kubernetes, data engineering, Hadoop, Apache Spark,
Java Swing, JVM internals, and occasionally writing a toy language. I
currently work for HPE in their Professional Services department,
supporting Ezmeral software and custom integrations.
I'm currently looking to contribute a git of golang RPM packaging for an
open source product, SPIRE (SPIFFE/SPIRE). On Wednesdays, I head up the
Houston Linux User's Group meetings, which I've been doing for nearly two
decades.
Cheers,
Edwin

Hello everyone.
My name is Jhonatan Grajales but they usually call me Alex by my middle name.
It is the first time that I participate in an open source project, however I am fully willing to collaborate for the growth of the project and the community.
My native language is Spanish and I am learning English.
I currently work in a SAP help desk, I have been on my personal computer with Fedora for approximately a year and I am delighted with the stability I have had, I normally use it to develop small programs in Python for practice purposes and I find myself making a LFS101 Linux certification.
As for the mailing lists, it is the first time I have used it, in my environment we have always used Microsoft Teams to communicate and now I am trying Element.
Due to my job and the fact that I have shifts at different times, I have an estimated time of 10 hours a week.
I am enthusiastic about being able to contribute to the community.

Hello, I'm Adaline!
by Adaline Simonian
Hello everyone
Here's a slightly modified version of my intro I sent to the translation
team mailing list.
It's a pleasure to meet you all. My name is Adaline and my pronouns are
they/she in English, and hen/ho in Norwegian (hen/hun if you're writing in
Bokmål). My native languages are US English, Russian, and Western Armenian,
though I have largely forgotten Armenian as a result of not using it and my
Russian is a tad rusty.
I'm at a CEFR B2 level in Norwegian (according to my teachers, though I
also have planned to take the national language test when I visit the
country). I'm currently working on getting to a C-level. Nynorsk is the
language I use day in and day out on my computer whenever an application
supports it.
I decided to take a stab at contributing to translations for Fedora since I
primarily use Nynorsk on my machine, and that includes the Fedora
installations I run. I'd like to increase the translation surface of the
Nynorsk localization.
While I have not been a contributor to Fedora before, I have been active in
the OSS community broadly for a long time, off and on. I am a member of the
Stylelint maintainer team, have several packages in the Node.js ecosystem
that I maintain, and most recently have been behind Ordbok API (
ordbokapi.org), a public, free, and open source GraphQL API for data from
the Norwegian dictionaries. I am also the developer and maintainer of the
Discord bot powering language-related functions for the Norwegian Language
Learning community (https://github.com/NLLCommunity).
My main OS on my desktop machine is Windows but I use Fedora in WSL, my
virtual machines, and on my work laptop. Fedora runs my home k8s cluster as
well. I've used some private mailing lists a few times, but only a very
long time ago. I'm familiar with Git and use it for my own projects as well
as for work. I've worked with a variety of languages, frameworks, and
runtimes across my time in my career. I currently use Node.js and
TypeScript as my daily driver for most work both at work and for my
personal projects, but I have used C#, Rust, C, Java, and a number of other
languages in the past.
Most of my personal communication with people is on Telegram, Discord for
the Norwegian community I am a moderator in, though I have Signal and
Matrix as well. For the most part aside from my involvement in the
Norwegian community and my contributions to the OSS sphere, I tend to live
pretty offline — so while I do have a Twitter, Bluesky, and a Mastodon
account, I very rarely use them. I live a fairly busy life but was planning
on kicking an infrequent hour or two here and there towards contributing
some translations.
My Fedora Account username is adaline, and I have signed the CLA.
Mvh

Introduction: rshadr
by Adrien Ricciardi
Hello! I'm Adrien from Luxembourg, looking to contribute to Fedora Linux.
My first experience with open source was Blender in 2018, then I
installed Ubuntu in 2021. Among
the distros I've used since then, I stuck with Fedora because it hits a
nice balance between ease
of use and user control. My main interest is in making Linux more
accessible to "non-tech" people.
I have been programming for 2 years (mainly in C), know shell scripting,
git and the classic debugger
tools. My 4 fluent languages are French, Luxembourgish, German and English.
Time-wise, I expect to be spending 5-6 hours a week on Fedora
contributions; as I'm still in school,
this may vary depending on exams.
I look towards fixing upstream bugs in programs (like GNOME terminal) at
some point, but will try my hand at translations in French and
Luxembourgish when I get started. Looking towards working with
all you cool people!
