Patch Set 1:

I can reproduce what you see on Fedora17, but other systems I cannot.  Ubuntu 12.04, RHEL6.3 modprobe restores the char device correctly.

I'm still trying to see what's different in F17.

If this isn't a bug in how the /dev/kvm device file is created in F17, then I think it's reasonable to add a start/stop hook.

One concern would be racing between creates and deletes since this is a common file.
