We discussed this feature with Ian Kent a couple of weeks ago. At that time,
Ian wasn't aware of any change that was needed in the sssd logic. When it
comes to autofs, sssd is a proxy more or less, all the business logic is
done in autofs

The only difference (which was not clear at the time) was whether we
need to document some amd schema attributes. I've pinged Ian with a
question.
