In this particular case, I modified it by hand, but I've seen spec2scl make the 
same modification and cause the same error.

Thanks for the info on the heredoc method. That should help a lot.

FYI: Running spec2scl 0.3.4 on the mod_perl.spec from mod_perl-2.0.4-10.el6 
results in spec2scl spinning seemingly forever.
