I see more styles than just "yours" and "mine" in the code. Not talking about variable names, but e.g. 
order of imports, number of spaces etc.

And the JBoss-conventions even do it differently to some extends.

Irc may be a good medium to discuss that. But when a decision has been taken, it should e.g. be 
put in an email to this list or the respective wiki-page been updated. We do have some people on
the team (Charles, Mike, Stefan, Lukas and myself) who do not live in New Jersey timezone,  so 
there is no guarantee that all of use see those decisions.
