most likely not

err, then why is the file listing:
*.a
*.gmo
*.o
*.os
*.pot
*.so
.deps
Makefile
config.h
config.log
config.status
(maybe others?)

seems like it if you're going to have a rule, it should be consistent ;)

(i.e. merge my patch)
