I fixed this a couple days ago and forgot to push the fix out.  A fix
should be in the git trees now.  Can you test my fix?  It seems to be
a little simpler than the one you provided.  I've tested it with
authn_testing and it seems to work well.  If you still have problems,
let me know and I'll revert mine and apply yours.
