cannot boot into xen kernel
by Yuming Fei
Hi, everyone,
After installing xen, I cannot boot into the xen kernel. This is on Insprion 4100 laptop, running Fedora core 6. Any helps on how to boot into Xen kernel would be appreciated.

That might be a PAE vs non-PAE kernels?
I don't know because I don't run FC5 kernels in xenu's on FC6 (but FC6 xenus to
make sure they match up)

fc5 domU on rhel5 dom0
by Robert Story
Hi,
Anyone got any tips on getting a fc5 domU to load on a rhel dom0? I've been
struggling with it all morning. I'm stuck at:
--- config ---
memory = "1024"
disk = [ 'phy:/dev/x/aaa,xvda,w' ]
vif = [ 'mac=00:aa:bb:cc:dd:ee' ]
uuid = "aaaaaaaa-bbbb-cccc-dddd-eeeeeeeeeeee"
bootloader="/usr/bin/pygrub"
--- end ---

initrd /initrd-2.6.20-1.2307.fc5xen-blk.img
--- end ---
(Original domU was using fc5xenU kernel/initrd, but google told me I needed
this PAE kernel. It fixed the PAE errors I was getting in xend-debug
initially.)

Xen on x86_64
by Prabhakar Chaganti
All,
I am having an issue with running xen on Fedora Core6 - x86_64. Installed
the latest versions of kernel-xen, xen and xen-devel packages using
yum.Whenxend tries to startup, it is printing this traceback:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/sbin/xend", line 49, in ?
from xen.xend.server import SrvDaemon
File "/usr/lib64/python2.4/site-packages/xen/xend/server/SrvDaemon.py",
line 17, in ?
import xen.lowlevel.xc
ImportError: libxenctrl.so.3.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file
or directory
That lib is on my ldpath. ldconfig -p | grep -i xen shows:
libxenstore.so.3.0 (libc6) => /usr/lib/libxenstore.so.3.0
libxenstore.so (libc6) => /usr/lib/libxenstore.so
libxenguest.so.3.0 (libc6) => /usr/lib/libxenguest.so.3.0
libxenguest.so (libc6) => /usr/lib/libxenguest.so
libxenctrl.so.3.0 (libc6) => /usr/lib/libxenctrl.so.3.0
libxenctrl.so (libc6) => /usr/lib/libxenctrl.so
Any one know what's happening here? Any pointers greatly appreciated.
thanks

Xen w/ Matrox Parhelia - cpu_callout_map
by Vann Walke
I've been attempting to use my machine with a Matrox Parhelia card with
the Fedora Core 6 Xen kernel. The Matrox card requires a kernel
module. The module builds without error, but fails to load due to an
unknown symbol, "cpu_callout_map".
I submitted this issue to the Unofficial Matrox Technical Support Forum,
but haven't been able to resolve anything yet:
http://matrox.tuxx-home.at/viewtopic.php?t=185
I've also submitted this question to the xen-users mailing list who
asked that I try here (the fedora-xen list) first.
Any thoughts on how to resolve this problem? How would I find out what
the function of cpu_callout_map is and why it is being compiled into the
mtx module? Any idea if this is a general Xen issue or is it FC6 specific?
Many thanks for your help,
Vann

virtual machine installation Questions
by Songtao Liu
hello,
Now I am working on fedora6Xen,i.e. 2.6.20-1.2944.fc6xen .Several questions:
1. After I have installed the windowsXP, the XP OS of course needs to reboot, but then the WindowsXP is automatically closed. How can I restart it? And I use #virsh start , the domain will be running, but when I open it, just a black screen on the VM manager.
2. I also want to install the same Fedora6 on VM, but the installation will always hang. The fedora6 image on DVD must be OK as I have already installed it.
3. I must often boot the computer several times before I can see the login of Fedora OS. It changes often into a black screen state, dead.
4. I can not use #xm list, it says command not found.
Any help or hint will be great!!!
Thanks.
Songtao
