On the flip side, there is often value in tying people to online
reputation established elsewhere. That gets lost when you don't
connect to an existing identity.

you're perfectly right and I put on here this consideration because I
picked up some feedback from new Fedora users (which don't have FAS
account), who wondered why they had to use only OpenID login.
