Folks,
Installed vdsm,nothing abnormal encountered,but when start vdsmd:
$ sudo service vdsmd start vdsm: libvirt already configured for vdsm [ OK ] Starting iscsid: Starting libvirtd daemon: Starting up vdsm daemon: vdsm start [ OK ] $ sudo service vdsmd status VDS daemon is not running
and then all connctions fail:
$ vdsClient -s 0 getVdsCapabilities Connection to 0:54321 refused
Any thoughts?

Can you post your vdsm.log? It should have some hints there.

Did you configure security (certificates) ? "-s" implies you are using it. Y.
Connection to 0:54321 refused
Any thoughts?

I mistakenly cleaned vdsm.log,I have thought it would re-generate automatically after remove... in vdsm-reg.log: MainThread::DEBUG::2011-12-05 10:44:07,831::vdsm-reg-setup::73::root::Setup::__init__ vars: self.vdcURL None self.vdcPORT 8443 self.vdcURI /RHEVManagerWeb/VdsAutoRegistration.aspx self.vdcRegPort 54321 self.ovirtURL None self.ovirtName None self.ovirtUID None self.vdcName None self.ticket MainThread::DEBUG::2011-12-05 10:44:07,832::vdsm-reg-setup::77::root::validate start MainThread::DEBUG::2011-12-05 10:44:07,832::vdsm-reg-setup::84::root::validate end. return: False MainThread::DEBUG::2011-12-05 10:44:13,839::vdsm-reg-setup::279::vdsRegistrator::Total retry count: 6, waited: 6 seconds.
ps:I checked firewall

What is your setup? Is it a RHEV-H? Which Vdsm version are you using? And is there a rhev-m around?
vdsm.log would regenerate once you try to restart the daemon. If it cries about missing keys/certs, you may want to retry with
[vars] ssl=false
in /etc/vdsm/vdsm.conf.
Dan.
Thanks Dan, find when quering the storage domain,indeed a problem with ssl: SSLError: [Errno 185090050] _ssl.c:340: error:0B084002:x509 certificate routines:X509_load_cert_crl_file:system lib

On fedora16, vdsm 4.9.0 bcuz some experimental codes target to it,no m
around, we plan to deal with node,engine and vdsm seperately before integrate them.

but can't find this anywhere ,just logger.conf under /etc/vdsm, checked the installation to be complete.
Dan.
After created /etc/vdsm/vdsm.conf and set ssl=False,reconfiured service vdsmd,
still this: $ sudo service vdsmd status VDS daemon is not running
vdsmd still can't register because of argument validation failure:
MainThread::DEBUG::2011-12-06 15:36:04,203::vdsm-reg-setup::38::root::__init__ begin. MainThread::DEBUG::2011-12-06 15:36:04,204::vdsm-reg-setup::73::root::Setup::__init__ vars: self.vdcURL None self.vdcPORT 8443 self.vdcURI /RHEVManagerWeb/VdsAutoRegistration.aspx self.vdcRegPort 54321 self.ovirtURL None self.ovirtName None self.ovirtUID None self.vdcName None self.ticket MainThread::DEBUG::2011-12-06 15:36:04,204::vdsm-reg-setup::77::root::validate start MainThread::DEBUG::2011-12-06 15:36:04,204::vdsm-reg-setup::86::root::validate end. return: False
Just install FC16 and vdsm,no other pacakges,would anyone give me idea about what should configure?(like vdcName or vdcURL,etc)
Jenna,

This is not surprising, since you do not have an engine around to register with. You should not even install vdsm-reg if you are not operating on an ovirt-node.
If you are using Fedora 16, you should use v4.9.2 or at least the rpm that Federico published few days ago. v4.9.0 had a bunch of problems in Fedora.
