The NetApp SMI-S proxy implements the snapshot functionality as a NetApp
FlexClone
(
http://www.netapp.com/us/products/platform-os/flexclone.html).
SMI-S defines a snapshot as:
"A point-in-time, virtual image of the source element. The target
element remains dependent on the source element. Snapshots are commonly
known as delta replicas and contain incrementally changed data as well
as references (e.g. pointers) to the unchanged source element data."
" The target element remains dependent on the source element "
So what happens if the source element is discarded (can it be discarded)?
