Hello!
I noticed that RStudio doesn't show up in Gnome Software's search on F33 Workstation. My understanding is that graphical applications should be installable through Gnome Software, but I'm not sure whether filing a bug would be the right thing to do here, ot whether there's something else I should do instead.
Does it install an appdata or metainfo file?

I don't generally use Gnome/Workstation.
However, I do note that the RStudio software doesn't show up in "Software". A search in that application shows nothing. As you've said.
There is another package management GUI called "gnome-packagekit-installer" and it does show up in that GUI when you search for it.
So, yes, I'd file a bugzilla against "Gnome Software". And, then either use the alternate GUI or use dnf. FWIW, I don't use the installer GUI for KDE either. I only use dnf from the command line.

same here, and dnf install rstudio appears to work (fwiw)

Use dnf.

If I understood the docs page [1] correctly, then the question is whether the package installs a .metainfo.xml or .appdata.xml file. I'm not completely sure how to find that out, but I don't see one on the list of files on this 3rd party page [2].

Apologies, I was unclear before. The issue is the fact that this application does not appear in Gnome Software even though, if my understanding is correct, it should. Me installing the application with dnf would, unfortunately, not fix this particular issue.

Understood. However, if you just use dnf, you don't have to worry about having a GUI front end for it messing up. KISS.

So no, there is no appdata or metainfo file in the package, which is why it does not appear in Gnome Software. File a bug against rstudio if you want the maintainers to do something about that.

I agree with Jerry - file a request with RStudio. According to the RStudio
website they haven't released an updated version since they released rstudio-1.4.1103-x86_64.rpm for Fedora 28.

I, for one, appreciate your work, for whatever that's worth.
