May be you can use rpm -Uvh --replacepkgs <nvidia_package> ?

Wolf, as I wrote , I can not remove the nvidia-module-kernel, rpm -e
says it's
not installed and rpm -U says it is.
I'll try your suggestion but I dont like orphans in the system and
would prefer to get the rpm out first.
