Mine started doing that with FF 54; I'm a tad surprised that you
haven't noticed it before. Once I got used to it, I realized that
this was better than FF just sitting there with no response while it
did that.

Well yours may be responding faster than mine, it just sits there doing
nothing for some undetermined period of time, more than a few minutes,
I've noticed a few times when I went back it had the search window up,
maybe came up while I was in the kitchen getting some lunch ...
I tried
duckduckgo.com and it does not have that problem, I'm not
accustomed to their page but it does work and I can use it. Just not the
solution I was looking for.
