Issue maybe something different. I have found a possible solution
that works,
on an older version of fedora.
On an older system, I had compiled the nedit, and pressing the numeric keys
was actually moving the mouse pointer and not giving the keys?
I found this would solve the problem.
From the menu, use
System > Preferences > Keyboard
On the tab titled "Mouse Keys" there is a check box to toggle "Pointer can
be
controlled using the keypad" .
You can disable this behaviour there.
Afterwards, the number keys would work just fine.
Of course, the options are different under Fedora 26. I believe it is now
under settings and Univeral Access, and called Mouse Keys.
Only have a notebook at home with Fedora 26, but it doesn't have a separate
numeric keypad so having not test it? But think it is the system trying to give
mouse controls via the keypad keys instead of having it act as a number pad.
If I had mouse pointer in nedit window, you could see it moving based on the
keys being pressed.
Hi Mike,
You are right, it works, but what the the link between the mouse keys and the numerical
pad?
