Your profiles are located at ~/.mozilla/firefox as a directory. The
default profile would be named something like 56npld66.default and
the profiles.ini should hold the needed information to start FF using
that information.
For example my profile.ini contains
[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=56npld66.default Default=1
[General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2
[Install11457493C5A56847] Default=56npld66.default
And, you can always start FF with a profile like this....
firefox --profile ~/.mozilla/firefox/whatever_directory
Thank you for your answer. I tried to modify the files profiles.ini and
installs.ini to have my "old" profile but this did not work: when I call
firefox I have a warning pretending that I am using a too old version of
firefox (??? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) which could destroy my configs and
bookmarks....
Then I have no other choice: or I create a new profile, or I quit....
So, I downgraded from version 68 (from my new f30 install), to the
previous one (66). and firefox works like this. Doing updates, I will
exclude firefox untill this strange behaviour disappears.
Who can understand?
Thank you.
