I visited the link you provided (thanks!), and read the academic paper
about adnauseum. In that paper, on page 5, there is this quote:

At the extreme left, the tool’s clicks are undetectable (as
there are none), and AdNauseam then functions like a standard blocker,
simply blocking and hiding ads.
"""
They are talking about the slider that sets the probability of how often
bogus clicks are generated for ads. The extreme left is 0%, so clicks
are never generated.
On page 6, though, they show a comparison of several strategies in
comparison to adnauseum. If blocking ads is the only consideration,
ublock-origin seems to be the best solution.
