Hello,

I had a discussion with people in charge of a big machine.
They suggested me to recompile the libraries that I use (like gsl).

What do you think ?

You don't mention the OS, which gsl your are using, and what problems you have (if any).  Having
said that, for big machines with many different large applications in use, it is normal to build all the
supporting libraires your application requires as the admins can't chase down all the problems with
different versions used by applications, and want to be able to upgrade parts of the system (e.g., for
security) without fear of breaking any of the big applications.    Many libraries have optional features
that can be tuned for best performance in a given application.
