I'm running Fedora26 as my host (primary OS), I did this:

1) Follow this guide:
http://rglinuxtech.com/?p=1992

2) start vmware (12.5.6) like this:
VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_LIBS=force /usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware &


This works for me...
