That's pretty much the whole point of IMAP, at least as far as an
improvement over POP, the latter of which doesn't give you any choice on
this matter. In fact, properly set up IMAP allows you to access your
mailbox(es) from multiple computers/tablets/smartphones and always see
the same thing.
