When I had F12 installed on my system I was able to configure a printer attached to my dad's windows system without issues.

I'm now running F14 and I'm having problems.  When I bring up system-config-printer and add a printer via samba I provide just the workgroup name and select browse.  After a bit a dialog pops up showing the share name and then another dialog pops up that says that I need to login to the windows host.  Since no such security requirement has been configured on the windows side I am unable to configure a printer.  The same thing happens when I use my mother's F13 system to configure a samba printer.  I can run

smbclient -L 192.168.1.110

which prompts for a password but hitting return allows it to go ahead and display the available services

[root@peglaptopw mplayer]# smbclient -L 192.168.1.110
Enter root's password:
Domain=[TALOFA01] OS=[Windows 7 Ultimate 7601 Service Pack 1] Server=[Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1]

However, if instead of providing just

WORKGROUP/

in the SMB printer config dialog I enter

WORKGROUP/192.168.1.110/

where 192.168.1.110 is the IP address of TALOFA01 then it finds the list of available printers and I can go ahead and configure them.

This workaround does not work on F13.  I'm still prompted for username and password for system 192.168.1.110.

It seems wrong to me that I need to provide the actual IP address to make it work.  If I provide TALOFA01 instead of the IP address I get prompted again for username and password.

So what do I need to configure on F14 to make printer configuration via samba work right?

On another note there is one thing I find really annoying regarding adding a printer, and that's the number of times I'm asked for the root password.  I'm asked the root password first when I select add printer.  After providing it (correctly) I am asked it again to get privileges to access network printers.  I am asked the root password a third time when I go to apply the printer configuration.  After I enter the password I am again prompted for the root password to get additional privileges.  So in total I was asked for the root password 4 times - this seems excessive.
