as Adobe Reader cannot be fully replaced by evince or other
application,
I note that if I start Acroread and I use the File/open menu, it doesn't
work. Using acroread name_of_file in a terminal it works. Any idea?
sorry for the off-topic

I don't have access to your file, but I am encountering the same issue
with some PDF files. The only reader to use is unfortunately Acrobat
Reader itself. No way with evince, qpdf, okular and so on...
