download the codecs from Mplayer
http://www4.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/all-20050412.tar.bz2
save to your home folder
mkdir tmp
each line is in the terminal
move the archive to the tmp folder
open terminal
cd tmp
tar xvfj *.tar.bz2
cd all-20050412
su
mkdir /usr/local/lib/codecs/
cp *.* /usr/local/lib/codecs/
cd /usr/local/lib/codecs/
chmod 755 /usr/local/lib/codecs/*
FWIW
I created a link instead of copying the files. It makes it easier.
mkdir /usr/lib/win32
cp /usr/local/lib/codecs/* /usr/lib/win32
restart firefox about:config
enjoy
